Hermitage of San Sebastián
Hermitage of San Sebastián (15th c.)
LA SOLANA
This hermitage is located in the El Santo neighbourhood and is the oldest church in La Solana. The date of construction of this building, which was declared a monument in 1982, is unclear. Some sources date it in the 14th century, other onces in the 15th century. Its appearance is early Gothic. The Mudejar ceiling is decorated with polychrome inlaid woodwork and mother-of-pearl inlays and, in the chapel on the epistle side, we can find a background of ebony wood. During a recent restoration, some frescoes have been discovered whose figures are barely distinguishable today, with the exception of some gothic inscriptions.
