Every year, the Asociación Hidalgos Amigos de los Molinos de Campo de Criptana is organising the Semana Cervantina (Cervantine Week) to commemorate the death of Cervantes and the publication of the masterpiece of universal literature Don Quixote de la Mancha. It is an event that brings together a whole series of cultural events: literary, musical, theatrical, painting exhibitions, talks and conferences; as well as outdoor activities: painting competition, gastronomic tastings and traditional milling.
One of the most important events that makes this Week a cultural reference in La Mancha is the appointment of Molinera de Honor, Hidalgo de Honor, Dulcinea Honorífica, Molinero Mayor and Socio de Honor, which are awarded to illustrious personalities from the world of fashion, culture and politics, and which take place during the closing ceremony of this Semana Cervantina. In these events, the Town Council of Campo de Criptana, the Asociación Hidalgos amigos de los Molinos and all the people of Campo de Criptana take an active part in this week.
