The anonymous writer, who hides under the pseudonym of Alonso Fernández de Avellaneda, dedicates his false Don Quixote, published in 1614, “to the mayor, councillors and noblemen of the noble town of Argamesilla de la Mancha, happy homeland of the hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha”, and explicitly situates his protagonist in this town.
